On Thursday afternoon, I'll be on my way to Louisville to visit Jenna and check out the Derby. I'm on a every other year schedule and this year is my time to live it up!
The forecast is for showers and more showers, but we can make our own fun. Right now, my favorites are Big Brown and Eight Belles. These picks, of course, will change as the Derby race approaches.

Baseball in St. Lou
I just got home from watching a great Cardinal victory over the Cincinnati Reds, 7-2. So, this was a Tuesday night game and the temperature was in the low-40s, but somehow there were over 30,000 people in attendance. Sometimes, I daydream about moving somewhere outside of St. Louis, but I don't know if I could do it. I would miss Cardinal baseball too much. I know that seems corny, but the culture of Cardinal baseball has been a big part of my life since I was a kid. So many stadiums across the country struggle with attendance, but tonight is an example of the dedicated fans we have here.

Even more Bravo
I know you're tired of all my links to Bravo-related shows, but I love Tim Gunn. Check out the latest on his Guide to Style show, as told by the hilarious guys on Project Rungay.

Prince at Coachella
Prince performing Little Red Corvette.
Prince performing Creep by Radiohead. The video is crap, but the audio is great. This is just as good, if not better, than his cover of the Foo Fighters at the Super Bowl a few years ago.
Never Settle
My friend, Stacey, and I had dinner tonight to catch up on the events in our lives. I complained to her that she hasn't written in her blog since January! "But I just posted last week," she said. And, it's well worth reading, so I'm passing along this link to you. I wholeheartedly agree with her response to the "Marry Him!" article in the Atlantic Monthly.

A potentially bad idea
I know a lot of people have issues with American Airlines, but I've had pretty good luck, so far. I was affected by the FAA inspections at the end of last week. I was in the NYC area for work and my return flight to St. Louis was canceled. The person on the reservation line was very helpful and all of the flight attendants and ticket agents were extra friendly. It was a pain in the ass, but what are you going to do?
And, then, I read this story on the merger of Delta and Northwest. I think this is a bad idea. Won't this merger drive up airfares even higher? We'll have less choices, right?

New Bond film update
I grew up watching all of the James Bond films, because my dad is a big fan. For the longest time, Sean Connery was my favorite Bond, but now, I'm really liking Daniel Craig. He's in the middle of shooting the new Bond flick, Quantum of Solace. Here is the update from the set.
MLK - Letter from Birmingham Jail
I've been catching up on my DVR shows and I just finished the tribute, King, to Martin Luther King, Jr. on The History Channel. They featured a letter that Reverend King wrote from the Birmingham, Alabama jail. Much of what he writes still applies to the present day, especially this quote: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
Forty years after Dr. King's assassination, I feel like that we haven't fulfilled his dream of equality. The examples are around us everyday -- new opposition to affirmative action, the reluctant to use qualified minority businesses as vendors, and the whispers of the invasion of foreigners in the workplace. I see these things everyday and it makes me very sad. I do my best to educate and try not to preach. It's very hard to go up against the establishment, when I'm the only one among my co-workers who really understands and has experienced prejudice.
Well, I'll continue to fight the good fight. Wish me luck.

Additions to the blog roll
I've added a couple links to my blog roll -- The Consequence of Sound and Cafe Con Soja. The Consequence of Sound has an seemingly endless amount of music news and festival information. Check out the Festival Outlook link at the top of the site. Cafe Con Soya is written by my friend Dawn from high school. We really haven't seen each other since college, but we reconnected via Facebook. She's living in Madrid now and is writing about her experiences there.
Young People Who Rock
I'm not sure why CNN doesn't publicize this more, but this is a really cool blog about people under 30 doing incredible things. Check it out.
